Right from the off, I'd like to thank Marty on two counts: first, for setting up the forum, getting the old images for us and generally making sure that this place looks and functions like a PoliticsUK forum ought to. And secondly for having found all of the old rules and guides from previous iterations of the game which have been, in some parts, transferred directly to this forum and, in other parts, grafted from to form a new set of rules. This help has been immeasurable in getting the forum up and running and ready to go for you all to use.

You will find that most of the sections for rules currently say "Placeholder" in them. This is because I am still working on them. They will be complete before the round begins and, of course, you will have ample time to make suggested changes. The rules, though written and posted, are never set in stone and I am happy to take on board suggestions as to how the rules themselves, and the mechanics which they serve, can be improved.

Major Announcement:

We are pleased to announce that the 2001 round will open up on Friday, and playable from then. There will be two major parliamentary debates opened up from the beginning of the round to get you all started.

I would like to formally announce that Victoria Penney has been officially warned by the A-Team for harassments and baseless accusations against said A-Team. If her behaviour is not improved, then we shall be forced to take more severe action.

I regret to announce that, since being warned, Victoria Penney has failed to moderate her behaviour towards me and other members of the A-Team and has, subsequently, been IP banned for 2 weeks. She will be allowed to return to the forum after that time, pending good behaviour.

The above ban has been extended to four weeks, as the user signed up a new account in an attempt to circumnavigate it.

As you can see, at the request of the A-team I've hooked up the RSS bot to the Announcements forum so as to enable them to post announcements directly to the board and Discord at once (well, I say directly, the bot fetches the feeds every 10 minutes so technically the board gets the scoop).

You may see me posting new Press Cycles and moving stuff around Parliament. Do not be alarmed by this and do not reply to any of them. I am merely testing out how to automate press cycle and debate notifications for you. There is no XP to be gained (it may be lost depending on how much you annoy the A-team but not my call), so do not concern yourself with these posts. Thank you.

Another friendly reminder that there are just over 24 hours left to get your Maiden Speech in. Lots of valuable XP on offer for the best showings.

I wanted to begin by thanking everyone who took part in the Maiden Speech contest. Though we have done something similar in the distant past, this was very much a trial and I think it was an overall success. I will be posting the winners in the thread itself later tonight, but wanted to take this moment to thank you all for taking part and express that I was incredibly impressed by many of you.
